Flowermaking from Ribbon and Fabric

All Skill Levels, 1-day workshop, Hand work, Fee $48
Shape fabric and ribbons into colorful wildflowers that will bloom into a Victorian wreath on a 12-inch quilt block. Learn to make a silk ribbon pansy, a wild rose, yellow Verbana, ruched Hepatica with rolled centers, gathered heart leaves and vines of silk satin cording. Simple running stitches that do not have to be perfect -- as they will not show -- will be taught. Broderie Perse for applique leaves will be learned. Add borders and this album block can be made into a wallhanging or even dress up the back of a vest. Kit is $20, payable to instructor in class, and includes instructions, patterns, fabrics, ribbons, beads, silk cording, crinoline, needles and a batting covered working board to lay out your block as you work. Optional: students can bring additional fabric printed with leaves and bits of nature like berries for broderie perse.
