Lake Metroparks BioClub is a nationally recognized organization through the National Association of Biology Teachers. Students will participate in a wide variety of activities and service projects that allow them to explore the biological world around them. What is biodiversity and why is it so important to our local and worldwide ecosystems? They will learn to understand how and where birds migrate around the Great Lakes, they will uncover the impact of light pollution on birds and their migration at night. Using the night sky and constellations, they will gain knowledge of the citizens science project GLOBE at night and put their knowledge into action.

Nature appreciation can happen all hours of the day, while a lot of our daytime critter friends are heading to bed, our nocturnal friends start to wake up. If you want to hear, (and maybe even see) some of our fascinating Ohio critters come join us at Jordan Creek Park for a night hike! All participants must be registered, including adults.

Participants learn about insect specialization, the monarch lifecycle and the importance of milkweed. Students design a pollinator garden with multiple flowering plants to provide food to monarchs throughout the year, with a special emphasis on milkweed and the role pollinators play in the ecosystem.

Have you ever wondered why from mighty Hercules to the vain Queen Cassiopeia, or even the planets, the sky is full of tales and legends? If you want to learn about how ancient humans navigated the night sky, join us at the Environmental Learning Center. All participants must be registered, including adults.

Come celebrate the season with Santa! We will assist you in building and decorating a wooden toy for you to take home and enjoy. Program designed for individuals with disabilities. Adult must accompany each participant.

We will play the classic game of “Capture the Flag”, outside in the elements (hopefully snow). Participants will learn how to use nature as an advantage while building teamwork and fitness levels.

Have you ever been curious how some caves are made from acid rain? Wondered what molecules make up the different colors we see in nature? Ever heard of hydrocarbon and curious what that means and how it works? This intro level class will use hands on experiments to teach you some new and interesting chemistry in the world around you.

Bring the family to explore cold weather's intriguing and fun side. We will create experiments and crafts to learn more about this frosty season. This program may be inside and outside depending on the weather. An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 18. All participants must be registered, including adults.

Brace yourselves for some hands-on action and mind-blowing interactions! Chemistry, physics, biology, broken down and introduced to our youngest minds. Explore our lab and the outdoors. Drop your kids off and explore the park while you wait for the program to end.

Come and explore the joys of winter! We will enjoy some hands-on winter experiments in our lab. Program designed for individuals who are sensory sensitive. Adult must accompany each participant.

Whether it's 65° or 10° below winter in Ohio is full of fun woodland friends. From birds to squirrels or maybe just some cool tracks and trees, nature still persists in the cold (or warm) winter. If you like exploring nature no matter the weather come join us for a winter hike at the Environmental Learning Center at Jordan Creek Park. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by adult. All participants must be registered, including adults.

How can you survive in the cold weather? This fun and interactive program will teach you survival skills such as findings shelter, avoiding hypothermia, assembling a survival kit, and more. This program is for people with disabilities.

Find a new way to see nature as we hike Jordan Creek Park at night! If the sky is clear, we will be able to enjoy finding the trails by moonlight and then enjoy a fire on the back patio of the Environmental Learning Center.

The winter is a grand time to explore the folklore and mystery of the night sky. Enjoy strolls through the night woods and a night of delicious food and local beverages. Telescope viewing if clear.

*Refund Policy: A refund will be given if the Registration Department is notified by the participant at least 5 days prior to the start of the program/pairing dinner. Failure to attend the registered dinner will be considered a forfeiture of all materials supplied and money paid.
