After hiking through some trails, we will hike down Eagle Rd and south on 306 before entering Chapin Forest, where we will enjoy the fall colors at the overlook before meeting with the shuttle at the Hobart Rd entrance to be returned to our vehicles.

Think you know the Gorge? Join us on a fun and challenging expedition to the lower gorge for an entirely different experience! Here you'll discover rocks older than the dinosaurs and search for unique plants and animals that call the area home. Sturdy, closed toe, waterproof footwear required. All participants must be registered, including adults.

Interested in seeing the salamander migration? Come experience the phenomenon first hand as salamanders make their journey from nearby woods to their breeding pools. A short indoor presentation on the migration will be held in the Penitentiary Glen Nature Center. Due to this phenomenon being weather dependent, we cannot schedule this in advance.
