Paddle Lake Erie with Lake Metroparks in kayaks. Previous paddling experience required. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must be registered.

We'll meet at Grand River Landing and enjoy an evening paddle on the Grand River. Previous paddling experience recommended.

Lake Metroparks is pleased to offer the Spirit of America Youth Boating program to graduating seventh-grade students this summer at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park. Spirit of America is free, meets national safe boating standards and gives students hours of hands-on boating experience in varied craft. Most importantly, Spirit teaches youth safe habits around the water. The program is also fun and allows students to make friends while gaining confidence.

Students will learn power boating, paddling, sailing skills and complete the Ohio Boaters Education Course. Students must attend OBEC on May 4 and 11, 9am to 4pm, and must achieve 70% on a multiple-choice test to attain OBEC certification. Testing accommodations such as readers and extra time are available upon request.

Program time is split between on-water and classroom. Expect students to be on or in the water each day during the on-water/water safety portion of this program.

Upon registration, you will receive an email receipt. With the receipt, look for a parent information packet and authorization form. The authorization form must be filled out and returned with the student on the first day of class.

Experience an evening of power boating on Lake Erie, as well as learn about some local maritime history and lore. Participants must be able to access boats from floating docks.

Enjoy a summer evening enjoying our great Lake Erie! We'll experience different boats for a true boating experience, including sailing, motorboats and paddling. We'll finish off the evening with a bonfire on the beach. Designed for individuals with disabilities and their families. All family members that plan to go on the water must register.

This trip will take paddlers down the shoreline of Lake Erie from Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park to Painesville Township Park and back in kayaks. Paddling experience required.

Lake Erie sunsets are one of a kind. Lake Erie sunsets on the water are even better! We will enjoy a peaceful paddle in the harbor while watching the sunset. Program runs if evening is cloudy. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must be registered, including adults.

Mornings are the best time to paddle the harbor! We'll enjoy the calm water of the harbor then paddle around the wall and visit the West Breakwall lighthouse. In the event of rough conditions, we'll walk to the lighthouse from the west end of the harbor.
