Lake Metroparks BioClub is a nationally recognized organization through the National Association of Biology Teachers. Students will participate in a wide variety of activities and service projects that allow them to explore the biological world around them. BioClub meets every third Tuesday of the month (January 16 - Dec 17, 2024) from 6:30-8:30 at various Lake Metroparks locations. Being a knee high naturalist has never been so much fun! This multi-age program includes a craft, activities, story, and hike.

Paddle Lake Erie with Lake Metroparks in kayaks. Previous paddling experience required. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must be registered.

Take a hike with us! This educational hike is designed for us to explore the parks together. Children must hike on their own feet for one hour. No strollers permitted. Weather permitting; this program is held entirely outside.

Let's explore! We will look and listen to our natural world as we stroll through a different park each month. This is an all outdoor, all weather program. Strollers strongly recommended.
Fee is for one adult and up to three children.

Think you know the gorge? Joins us on a fun and challenging expedition to the lower gorge for an entirely different experience! Here you’ll discover rocks older than the dinosaurs and search for unique plants and animals that call the area home. Sturdy, waterproof boots are required.

We will learn the story of Andromeda and view it in the Star Lab. We will act out a skit in a fun, interactive way to demonstrate the story.

Come ride from Lakeshore Reservation in Perry to Erie Shores Golf Course in Madison. We’ll enjoy an ice cream before heading back. Ride is about 15 miles on flat terrain. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by adult. All participants must be registered, including adults.

Guests will take a horse-drawn wagon ride while learning about the history and characteristics of the draft horses pulling the wagon. Enjoy wine while taking a tour of the Farmpark's equine stables and learn the history of horse breeds and how they are used on the farm. From there, the evening will continue at the Hilltop. Take in the view while enjoying appetizers. Dinner will consist of braised short ribs with pan sauce accompanied by mashed potatoes and asparagus (seafood and vegetarian options available). Each course will be paired with wine from a local vineyard. Finish the evening with New York-style cheesecake served with pomegranate sauce and fresh whipped cream and final pairing of wine. Casual dress is recommended.

*Refund Policy: A refund will be given if the Registration Department is notified by the participant at least 5 days prior to the start of the program/pairing dinner. Failure to attend the registered dinner will be considered a forfeiture of all materials supplied and money paid.

Come on down! You’re the next contestant on Penitentiary Glen’s Trivia Night! Join a naturalist and your friends as you play a Group-Style Trivia game centered around your parks and all of the fun facts and nature that surrounds them! All ages and skill levels are welcome! All participants must be registered, including adults.

Its springtime at the Glen! Allow nature to inspire you as we use a variety of paper odds and ends to create a unique piece of collage art relating to the season. All materials provided.

Join us for some chill birding. Bring a blanket and a snack, relax and let the birds come to you! All skill levels are welcome! So come take a seat and let’s see some birds! After the program stay to enjoy the sunset over Lake Erie.

Cast your reel and try your luck at our annual spring fishing derby. Awards for the three longest fish caught in three age categories (4 to 7, 8 to 12 and 13 to 17). Bait provided. Bring your own fishing pole. Pre-registration required -- no walk-ins. Adult must accompany child.
