Lake Metroparks BioClub is a nationally recognized organization through the National Association of Biology Teachers. Students will participate in a wide variety of activities and service projects that allow them to explore the biological world around them. BioClub meets every third Tuesday of the month (January 16 - Dec 17, 2024) from 6:30-8:30 at various Lake Metroparks locations. Trails? We don't need trails where we're going. This hike may be strenuous with stream crossings and steep hills, but we will explore seldom seen areas of the park. Bring food, water and sturdy boots.

Join us for a Hidden Adventure at Hidden Lake! Experience some of the activities Lake Metroparks has to offer. Our instructors and equipment will be there, and we will teach you all the activities. Try kayaking, standup paddle boarding and canoeing. Take a guided trail cart ride and learn the history of the park. Propel arrows down range on our public course. Cast a line into the stocked lake or take a guided hike. Play some disc golf or a game of cornhole. This is a free event. Registration required. All equipment for activities provided. While most of the world sleeps, there’s a whole ecosystem that springs to life when the sun goes down. Flying squirrels are the most common squirrels in Ohio. Active at night, they glide from tree to tree in search of food. Join a naturalist as we traverse nature after dark and search for signs of these amazingly adapted creatures of the night.

Step back in time and discover some of the history of Chapin Forest. Go inside the old Stannard and Sperry quarries and learn how these places shaped the park you see today. This three-mile trek will be challenging. Sturdy hiking shoes required. Trekking poles are recommended.

Nighttime is the right time for amphibians. Discover the salamanders, frogs, and toads who make their annual nocturnal treks to mate. Bring your nets and buckets and prepare to get wet. Waterproof footwear is recommended. All participants must register, including adults.
