Lifeguard Certification
The Lifeguard Class will be offered at the Environmental Learning Center at Jordan Creek Park and at Perry Pool. Students will meet at the Environmental Learning Center on May 1, 2, 9 and 10 from 5-8 pm to cover land curriculum. Students will meet at Perry Pool on May 11 and 12 from 8 am to 5pm for water skills and testing.
In addition to the class dates, e-learnings from the YMCA and Health Safety Institute totaling about 6 to 9 hours must be completed prior to the in-person class dates. The instructor will contact you leading up to the class to arrange access to the e-learnings.
Students must complete the e-learning, swimming test, and pass paper and water skills testing to attain certification. Students must be 16 years old by the last day of class. Lifeguard certification is valid for two years with Basic Life Support to be renewed annually. This is a YMCA Lifeguard Certification and includes open water training. Registration fee will be reimbursed upon a full season of lifeguarding with Lake Metroparks.
